Prism

Client: Lux (Wellington Light Festival)

Prism is a set of colourful boxes with reflective mylar encased inside thats unique quality works to refract light and colour, creating a mesmerising effect on the viewer.

Prism is a low-tech installation that does not require an added light source, but instead is designed to react to the sites exciting light source. The boxes size invites people to come closer creating a captivating and personal experience, as the light forms move with the viewers movements. The installation is a subtle addition to the site, which is different to most light festival proposals. Prism seeks to provoke a personal response and thought process for every individual.

The reflections seen on the mylar remind me of lights reflecting off the ocean at night, which creates nostalgia for a time when I was traveling in Europe a few years ago.
